One of the problems with tarp shelters, is that you have to constantly tweak them. ED and I just spent the morning tightening up the sheep shelter in anticipation of lots of wind and rain this afternoon and evening. I dread windy forecasts—they’re the hardest to deal with. I should really get a picture of this particular tarp structure—it’s ugly, but pretty functional. I’m looking forward to the day we can start a new barn!

I hate tarp shelters too… we have several around the farm bc they are quick and fairly cheap to throw together when a need presents itself. Our steer makes a habit of eating the tarp off his shelter every single time we replace it so he now has a plywood frame for shade and we throw a tarp over it when we know the weather is going to be wet. He’s so annoying. I just know his meat is going to have streaks of blue in it! LOL

We keep saying we’re going to design movable shelters, but every time we’ve tried, they’ve been anything but movable. How to design a shelter that’s lightweight, but sturdy enough to stand up to animals?!
