Strange Stormy Summer
So the computer has been out of commission again—this time my two-month-old modem pooped out. I’m waiting for a replacement, which seems to be a surprisingly long and complicated process, and meanwhile I’m using the computer at the library once or twice a week.
It’s been a strange summer—being without the computer for so much of it, DH hasn’t had much work, so money has been beyond tight, and the weather! Good grief—after the last two years of extreme drought, I’ve really looked forward to a wetter year, but holy cow, this has been nuts. In June we had the awful storm that killed the computer and washed out the driveway and a lot of the garden. Strangely, it was so localized it seemed to just be right in our little neighborhood, and we all said thank goodness those don’t happen very often! But then on the 9th of September we had a storm that put that one to shame, complete with drifts of hail. It knocked a lot of the leaves off the trees, destroyed what was left of the garden, and washed the driveway out for real. Again, it was so isolated that people in town didn’t know what we were talking about—we tried to describe it to a friend and he thought we were kidding! We were all a little shell-shocked, and maybe still are. you can read more about the storm and see some pictures at Dana’s: Part I and Part II.
So anyway, maybe fall will be better!
