A New Lamb

Hallie lambed last night—a really big single ram lamb. It was right at sunset, and all our neighbors just happened to be here, and so there were eight people in the stall with her as she gave birth! She didn’t seem to have any problem with that—it helped that she was at the “get this thing out of me” stage of labor. His name is Melvin.

The other two lambs are so bouncy! We let them out into the sunshine for a little while yesterday, and they were like popcorn. We tried putting them (along with their momma and Aunt Hallie) out in the pasture, but Blossom loves baby animals, and I started worrying about her enthusiasm, so we just let the sheep run around the barn and driveway.

Today’s project list includes building a cold frame; starting some seeds; docking a lamb tail; playing with some fun electric fence projects.

Here I am having a very difficult time hanging on to a squirmy niece. ED and Bernard aren’t terribly amused.

We did go to Asheville Sunday. This is my sister and I and her darling, precious, adorable daughter. It was so great to see them and my BIL and nephew, too.

I’m the cute one in the green sweater.
